A couple of weeks ago our lovely GM Gill Strain decided to introduce a Gin menu for the Leapark Hotel in Grangemouth. We wanted to introduce something different in our very own Treetops Bar.
We often seem to forget that apart from the original Gordons Gin, there is a wide selection and variety of Gins available in the market.
In the late 1990's and early 2000 a lot of whisky distillaries were closing down which led to a shortage of whisky in the market. Whilst distillaries were waiting on malt whisky's to mature ( by law, all Scotch whisky must be aged at least minimum of three years, the longer they age the better the real quality dram) a lot of the distilleries started to produce Gin as they had realised that the same materials that were being used to produce malt whisky could also be used to produce Gin.
70% of Gins are produced in Scotland, with Scotland claiming the title for the second biggest Gin producer in the world after the Phillippines. This is due to the Tanqueray and Gordon's distilleries being based in Cameron Bridge in Fife. If you are interested to find out more about our Gins at the Leapark Hotel, we suggest that you try our new Gin menu and sample some of our finest Gins and Gin Cocktails.
